What does the code say? Originally, they were approved for a fence that was approximately 13 feet tall to cover the ductwork. As we discussed over the phone, I would like to propose lowering the overall height of the wood fence around the mechanical yard to just enough to conceal the condensing units, and paint the exposed ductwork running up the building in a matching paint color. I wasn't sure what was defined as "equipment" when discussing elements that have to be concealed from view. I am hoping the ductwork can be allowed to pop up above the fencing, especially if we paint it, as the City typically allows for other visible mechanical elements, like kitchen exhaust fans. Please let me know what you think, and/or if you have any other questions, Thank you, JAMES A. L. SULLIVAN Assoc. A.I.A.
