Dear Mr. Moses,
Your application for Amendment to existing COA, at 307 E Capitol Avenue will be heard
before the Historic District Commission on July 10, 2017. The hearing will be held in the
Board Room at City Hall at 500 West Markham on the second floor. The meeting will
begin at 5:00 p.m.
Your amendment will be item One on the agenda. You or your agent must be present
in order for the item to be heard.
The application states that “A description of materials for all exterior surfaces to be used
including but not limited to foundations, walls, windows, doors, roof and exterior
surfaces and details including sizes, manufacturer, model number and color.” The
following information will need to be submitted to Staff by 5:00 pm June 19, 2017 to
complete your submittals for the filing. If you are not including any of the items below,
please respond with “not applicable”.
Doors: Specify brand, model number, finish, and size for all exterior doors on east side
of building.
Exhaust fan: Specify brand, model number, finish, and size.
Lighting: I received a cut sheet on the string light s. They are illustrated with a wood
structure. My understanding is that they will be strung with only wire from galvanized
poles. Please confirm this and resubmit a graphic that is more in keeping with the plans
for the string lights.
Satellite Dishes: State location and details on any satellite dish. If not using a dish,
please state so.
Fencing on site: You describe the fence as a wood slat fence on skim coated CMU
base. Is that detail for all of the fencing west of the Paragon Building? Is the CMU base
only in the raised patio area? Excluding the mechanical yard, what is the height of the
fence in the previously approved outdoor area?

Signage: Please provide size of sign over north entry door. Please provide sizes of
informational signage on the awnings (Sausage, Beer, Live Music). Please provide text
explaining Capitol Avenue signage, particularly the rail system that the individual letters
will be mounted to and the location of the four LED strips of lights.
Awnings: Provide details on locations, size, color, and material of all awnings on the
west side.
Patio Area: Please state if umbrellas or other shade coverings are going to be used.
This application may be required to go to the Board of Adjustment if the total number of
exterior seats excees 50% of the number of interior seating per Sec 36-342.1(d)(1)a.2.
This application may also be required to go based on additional exterior uses per the
UU zoning ordinance. Contact Dana Carney, 371-6817, for further details.
