I am digging out of my multiple emails and phone calls from one week off work. I will issue a COC Certificate of Compliance that will get you through the permit desk upstairs. You will need to get a roofing permit for this job. I have attached a draft of your COC for you to approve. The HDC does not dictate shingle color or style of asphalt shingle. The building was built in 1911 which is on the cusp of wood shakes and the new-fangled asphalt shingle roofs. If there is proof that there was wood shakes originally, I would suggest a medium brown architectural shingle that mimics that look of a wood shake roof. Your Heather Blend or Weathered Wood would be fine. Barring that evidence, a three tab would be more appropriate in the same colors. Architectural shingles are not ruled out. Craftsmen houses sometimes paired a buff brick or rock house with a red roof. It would be a daring choice, but, you would be appropriate with the Cottage Red. However, it is more striking on houses that you see more of the roof than this one. Please review the COC and let me know if it encompasses all that you need. If it does, please let me know. I will give copies to the permit desk upstairs and you will be ready for the permit. Kathy, do you want me to mail you the original for your files?
