Minor Arterial: A Minor Arterial provides connections to and through an urban area and their primary function is to provide short distance travel within the urbanized area. Local Streets: A Local Street is to provide access to adjacent property. The movement of traffic is a secondary purpose. Residential street use by heavy trucks and busses should be minimized. The Local Street generally has a right-of-way of 50 feet. In suburban location with larger acreage single family tracts, Local Streets may be designed with paved shoulders and open space drainage. In the case of short residential streets, a lesser standard is allowed.
