RE: Future Bike Lanes
Dear Mr. Malone,
I am in receipt of your correspondence regarding the hearings set for this coming Thursday to discuss an addition of
future Bike Lanes to the Master Street Plan.for the City of Little Rock. And, as per our phone chat, I think that the idea to
accommodate Bicyclers who wish to get from any point within the City to another is a thoughtful and considerate one,
however, I emphatically think having these lanes along side traffic lanes in commercial areas with motorists traveling at
least at a rate of 35 miles per hour poses a potential pose a road hazard, and that these lanes would be safer and better
situated in residential areas which have lower speed limits and without commercial traffic.
I know this doesn't speak to the concern for Citywide access for Bikers, but I am of the opinion that the Biker's safety
should take priority over heir access or convenience.
