You have already send the maps and text, right. Do not forget that list of Class III on Arterials. I would not worry about those on the implementation map (we can say those are corridors). But on the Plan Map they must be resolved. I have asked Brian Minyard to be there. He can help with dates for the Planning Commission, if the group is ready to send the Bike Plan to the City. If you would like to talk about the Plan for a few minutes let me know and I can do that this week. There were thousands of participants all ages and it was really fun. This may be something we are interested in doing in Little Rock sometime - Maybe the "Little Rock Harvest Moon Ride" or something. The website is http;l/www.moonlight-classic.com/about.htm1. Our next meeting is set for July 29 at 11:30 at the Rivermarket. Draft agenda attached for your review. Please let me know if you would like to add anything or make any changes to the agenda. I would like to have a follow on meeting after the regular meeting on the 29th to discuss chairmanship of the sub committees and task forces. If anyone is interested in heading up one of the many sub committees or task forces we are forming please let me know and let me know if you are able to stay after the meeting on the 29th to work thru this. If that time will not work, please suggest what will and perhaps we have this meeting at another time that is better for everyone. Attached is a draft committee structure diagram for everyone's review. Please let me know if you have any comments on this. Below is a link to the webpage with the meeting report from last month's meeting. Feel free to forward me any comments you have: httr):/1www-bi1kelr.com/1bfc.htm A quick progress report: 1. to Mayor Stodola, Bryan Day and Mark Webre for the recent repair work to the Two Rivers Park trail near the new bridge. 2. The Two Rivers Park Bridge will open Saturday, July 23 at 7:OOam. The Friends of Two Rivers will be selling shirts for $15 at the opening so bring a check or money if you want to buy one at the discounted price. Artwork attached. We are also hoping to have bike rentals available at the bridge opening for people who show up without a bike who may decide to join the ranks of Arkansas cyclists. David Fike is going to talk to Bryan Day about this. 3. We met with Peabody to discuss the formation of "Club Duck", which will hopefully become an awesome fitness and health package for the city of Little Rock focused on diet, exercise, rest and a commitment to healthy living. We also discussed the Bike Station and it sounds like it will fit right into their plans for promoting healthy living through their hotel. We discussed the Fitness Center component of the Bike Station and it sounds like we need to include this as a part of the Bike Station. All of the Riverfront/Rivermarket area hotels will benefit from it. 7/18/2011 Page 3 of 3 4. Still trying to connect with Director Kumpuris on the Bike Station. He is out of town currently and it looks like we may not get together until August at the earliest. 5. We have been in discussions with Aristotle regarding renewing the website and it looks like we may do this in the fall. We will have a better looking site with more functionality and it will be easier to use. Exciting. 6. Key projects we are focusing on to accomplish in the near future include: A. Improving Pinnacle Valley Rd from Hwy 10 to the RR tracks before there is an accident. B. Providing a temporary improvement at ECS to carry us through the process of the real fix. Currently we a discussing simply widening the sidewalk in front of the school to accommodate two way traffic and improving the ramps at the intersection to omit the right angle turns. Even though we are working on it now, we are probably looking at five years or more before the new trail connecting downtown LR to Riverfront Drive is open for business. This low-cost stopgap fix will hopefully carry us through this period. C. Extending the Jr Deputy trail at the Riverfront connection across the ditch towards Cottondale so cyclists headed for downtown can cross traffic at the left turn cut that is already there and do not have to remerge with traffic in the left lane to get to the Jr Deputy trail. This should be much safer than the current situation for both cyclists and motorists. D. We are hoping the city will improve Riverfront Drive from Rebsamen to the Jr Deputy trail as a part of the current Roundabout project. Thanks to Terry Watson, Eric Brock and the Cromwell firm for providing the Mayor with some stunning images of what this improvement could look like. Hopefully by our meeting on the 29th the Mayor will have selected the course of action he would like to take on improving this section of the trail. Finally, please let other people that might be interested in getting involved in the BFCC know about our upcoming meeting and please send me email addresses of anyone that might beinterested in receiving these emails to encourage their involvement. I used the regular send to box on this distribution so you can see who is on the list currently. Thanks for your involvement and help making LR a bicycle friendly city. Things are happening, and bigger things are on the way. Thanks again to Mayor Stodola, Bryan, Mark, Walter, Tony and the rest of the city for their support of this endeavor. Together we can make a difference in the future of our city.
