After this coming Monday those three items & a map of the Bike Plan routes will be available to be picked up at Ed's office in the Cromwell building at Center & Markham (immediately to the east of the Pulaski County Courthouse - see the direction's with Ed's e-mail). Just go to the front desk of the Cromwell Architectural firm & ask for the packet with your name & a map (Ed - there is a packet for you too). As soon as I finish this e-mail I will take the liberty of forwarding an e-mail Ed sent to me earlier this afternoon with electronic versions of items (1) & (2) attached (Ed - I assume that is okay). You will note that the hard copy of the Bike Plan is designated as Section 6 but it is Section 4 in the electronic copy. This is because earlier this year the Planning Department assigned new numbers to the Street Plan - "4" for the Bike Plan section. However the text in both the electronic & hard copy versions is identical. The hard copy also has a Section 7 that may relate to your work. As Ed has indicated, if you can review those materials before your first meeting, the subcommittee can hit the ground running. A bit of explanation - Re item (2) - Gene Pfeifer is a member of the City of Little Rock Bicycle Friendly Community Committee, did a preliminary review of the Bike Plan back in February, & forwarded his "Suggested Changes." Ed & I thought you should have the benefit of Gene's work for your consideration. Re item (3) - I compiled the Bike Lane Width Standards from information supplied to me by Metroplan. The standards are from three different agencies: CARTS = Central Arkansas Regional Transportation Study Design Standards AHTD = Arkansas Highway Transportation Department AASHTO = American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Not that it will make any difference to the work of your subcommittee, but I will be out of town & unavailable until January 10. Looks like Ed has your work off to a great start. 1/4/2010 Page 2 of 3 Thanks to all of you for your service on this important matter. We have several conference rooms at our office at Spring and Markham and there is plenty of free parking on the streets and behind our building after 5:00. So our first meeting will be 6:00 pm Wednesday, Jan 20 at the Cromwell Building (Spring and Markham) in the 2nd floor large conference room (take the elevator to the 2nd floor, turn right and you can't miss it). If you rife your bike, feel free to bring your bike into the building and into the conference room if you want or you can lock it up at the bike parking area at the southwest corner of the building outside. Meters are free in the evening, so no need to plug the meter if you park at a metered spot. There is also free parking on the south side of our building. Try to arrive a little bit before 6:00pm so we can start promptly at 6:00. Also, the front door automatically locks itself at 6:00 pm, so if you are late you'll need to call one of us on our cell phones (960-6145) so we can come down and let you in. We have a projector and computer if anyone has electronic material for us to use during the meeting. Look forward to seeing everyone then.
