SUBJECT: DIXIE ROAD MASTER STREET PLAN AMENDR

The request was made at the October 28, 2008, Board of
Meeting for staff to provide information regarding Dixie Road and when it was
first included in the Master Street Plan. Planning & Development Staff reports
that Dixie Road, from Ferndale Cutoff Road extending east to Chenal Valley
Drive, was first shown as a collector on the City Master Street Plan in the 1988
update. The 1982 Master Street Plan does not show the road and does not
extend as far west as Ferndale Cutoff Road. Metroplan has indicated that the
regional transportation plan did not show Dixie in the 1980's; however, they
currently show Dixie Road as a local street with a collector designation.
The City's 1986 Extraterritorial Plan showed Dixie Road and its extension as a
Collector to a proposed road in the general location of the current Chenal Valley
Drive. The 1986 Plan showed new roads and relocated some roads on the
Master Street Plan. One of the items that the 1988 update to the Master Street
Plan accomplished was to resolve any differences in the Master Street Plan and
the Extraterritorial Plan.
