Tony,
After our meeting this afternoon I had Adam pull out the alignment proposed by public works as shown on the
attached plan/profile. We had prepared this prior to the planning commission meeting.
If Deltic builds the street along this alignment it would cost....
1,700 Linear Feet of Collector 1,700 x $400 = $680,000
Drainage Structure at Rahling 150 x $1,000 = $150,000
Turn lanes on Rahling (Left & Right) $120,000
Total
$950,000
20% Construction Premium for Public Works $190,000
Total Constr Cost $1,140,000
Based on our earlier work this summer I found out it cost, on average, about $1,000,000 per lane mile for a
developer to build a street. For a 36 foot wide collector the cost of this segment would be around $965,000 plus
$120,000 for turn lanes for this segment. It the City tried to build it, it would cost $1,300,000.
None of these numbers include the $140,000 to $160,000 traffic signal.
These costs are to build the streets to Master Street Plan standards. If you just want two lanes of traffic, Mike's
number looks closer. The rough terrain and drainage structure at Rahling add significantly to the cost and I am not
sure Mike had them factored in.
I would be interested in the estimated cost of the other segments
Tim
