New Sidewalk - 1 This new sidewalk will provide Normandy residents with access to and from the Heights as well as Forest Park Elementary. _---._.- - New Sidewalk - 2 This new sidewalk will provide South Normandy residents with access to and from the Heights. _____-__- Pedestrian Crossing - 1 To improve crossing University, pedestrians and bikes need -Room to stand/wait for green light on both sides of street. -Painted pedestrian/bike crossing with larger -than -life white blocks. -Walk/stop light indicators added to stop light. Pedestrian Crossing - 2 To improve crossing Cantrell Road, pedestrians and bikes need -Room to stand/wait for green light on both sides of street. -Painted pedestrian/bike crossing with larger -than -life white blocks. -Walk/stop light indicators added to stop light. Arvest Bank This small Arvest bank -branch has some nice green space that could be incorporated into the project. Bailey Real Estate This is a small residential house turned into a real-estate office. It is currently for sale! Currently, there is no place at this intersection for a pedestrian/biker to stand. Could this property be purchased? Existing Sidewalk - 1 This is a very nice, relatively new sidewalk. It is along University immediately north of Cantrell Road. You'll have to cross the exit driveway for Arvest Bank Pedestrian Crossing - 3 A new, raised pedestrian crossing, including (for both N. and S. bound traffic) speed limit signs with an active display of drivers' current speed. Bike/pedestrian crossing signs will also be helpful. The crossing will be slightly raised (6 inches?) like an elongated speed bump. How long? Perhaps 20-25 yards. Perhaps brick could be used for the main part of the crossing, to help alert drivers to the crossing. This crossing will enable walkers/bikes to get to -Forest Park Elementary -The Heights, via improved University/Cantrell intersection - Salut Restaurant and Prospect Building Why not put this crossing at 10' street? Because that intersection is already very complicated. Adding pedestrian traffic would only make things worse. Block auto -access to Virginia from University To make this more safe for pedestrians/bikes, we want to close off access to Virginia from University. A series of large planters could be placed here to block auto access. This intersection is mainly used for drivers N. bound on University from Evergreen. They turn into S. Normandy at N. Lenon. and drive up Virginia and exit to S. Univers There is a tiny turn lane here -- what would we do this this? Fill it in with grass? New Sidewalk - 4 This new east -west extent of sidewalk along Cantrell just east of University will provide Normandy and S.
