Let's go ahead and set the meeting with the neighborhood and try to see if this is viable.

Subject: Normandy/University ROW
After meeting with Planning staff yesterday, I propose the following sequence of options
to pursue:
For Oct. 7th hearing, come back with an slightly amended proposal for ROW
reduction on University Avenue segment with an exception included (similar to the kind of
exceptions that you find checkered throughout the master street plan document) that
addresses in a very practical fashion an engineered section for only 'O' Street and
University intersection which specifies an enhanced intersection of pedestrian crossing---
e.g. protected 14 foot median, decent crosswalk, etc.
o Of course, with any master street plan standard, actual improvements are
initiated/triggered only when there is a new construction project for that stretch or
when there is an improvement/redevelopment of street -fronting property.
e I recommend taking this minor exception/amendment to ROW reduction to the
neighborhood for discussion before Oct,. 7th hearing as a very focused and practical
concession to Normandy residents' need for protected pedestrian crossing on O Street,

Should Normandy residents not accept this, I recommend withdrawing the
entire proposal for University ROW reduction.
My two -cents ... and I would be glad to go in person to the neighborhood with this.
I will be glad to attend Oct. 7th hearing and testify to any and all aspects of the
above .... and also counter -suggest to the BOD that the idea of actually going thru the
lengthy process of defining a new standard for 100 ft ROW is a extensive /open-ended
public process that would involve input of all neighborhood and citizens
Appreciate your gents' patience
