Subject: status of Pinnace Valley Road plan
Dear Ms. Edieringer,
I would like to request that the pian for Pinnacle Valley Road remain
four lanes from Cantrell Road to the railroad tracks. There is a lot
of traffic on that road already and a good bit of it is large travel
trailers and motor homes, or people pulling boats to the Arkansas
River. To change the plan from four to two lanes is not in the best
safety interest of those who travel this road.
One of the reasons a light was placed at Cantrell and Pinnacle Valley
Road was the recognition of increased traffic in recent years. I do
see this traffic increasing as more and more people move into that
area, adding to the traffic to Two Rivers and Maumelle Parks. I live
in the Pinnacle Valley area and can see Pinnacle Valley Road from my
front porch, and have seen this increase in traffic for the past ten
years. In addition I volunteer at Pinnacle Mountain State Park and
travel on Pinnacle Valley Road several times every week.
It would be beneficial if the road could be widened and shoulders
added to increase the safety of vehicles. There is a deep drop off
on the west side of this road and several cars have missed a curve
and gone off into this ravine. But the road would be much better if
it were four lanes.
Making the road four lanes would make it safer, enable traffic to
move more smoothly and benefit people who live off that road. Please
encourage the planning commission to keep the plan for four lanes,
whenever the road is repaired/widened/ improved.
