Subject: 12th Street Corridor Land Use Plan
Dear 12th Street Partners:
We are about to take yet another step in transforming the 12th Street Corridor into an exciting and
historic revitalization effort. Tomorrow the planning commission will consider the recommendations
made by the consultants that will alter the land use plan for the corridor to reflect the progressive
changes that will help encourage growth, development, security and uniformity for the area. A few
months ago notice was sent out to residents in the area and a public hearing was held at the Hinton
Center which gave everyone a chance to understand the positive impact that this will have.
You are invited to come to the planning commission meeting tomorrow at 4:00pm as this item will be
considered for passage. If this is passed by the planning commission and the city board both of which
have already approved the 12th Street Corridor Plan, it will help enhance the over $50 million dollars
worth of building projects that should be completed in the corridor within the next several years. This
does not include the 40 or more houses that will be built or renovated into affordable energy efficient
homes. One block at a time this area will be transformed and so will lives as we make efforts to
employee young people from the community that might otherwise be a stumbling block.
We apologize for the short notice but I am still recovering and trying to catch up from my auto accident a couple of
