The proposed changes are a result of discussions and review by city staff. A small portion (see attached map) of your property is currently shown as Community Shopping. This category provides for shopping center development with one or more general merchandise stores. There is a proposal to modify the future land use plan to remove the Community Shopping category and to rename all properties currently shown as Community Shopping to Commercial. These two categories are virtually the same, so staff is proposing to combine all properties previously shown as Community Shopping into the Commercial land use category. The commercial category includes a broad range of retail and wholesale sales of products, personal and professional services, and general business activities. A change to the Land Use Plan does not change your zoning or taxes. Please contact us indicating your wishes to the address above before December 1, 2009. If no response is given, the planning staff will view this as an acceptance of the change in the Land Use Plan category.
