3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO
4 EXTEND THE CONTRACT WITH STANDARD INSURANCE
5 COMPANY TO PROVIDE LONG -TERM DISABILITY
6 INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR NON - UNIFORM CITY
7 EMPLOYEES FOR A TWO -YEAR PERIOD EFFECTIVE MAY 11
8 2006; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

10 WHEREAS, in response to the most recent Request for Proposal to provide long -
11 term disability insurance coverage for non - uniform employees, the incumbent
12 provider, Standard Insurance Company was selected to continue to provide such
13 coverage for a two -year period effective May 1, 2006, at no increase in premium, and
14 WHEREAS, analysis of the proposals received. has shown that the proposal
15 submitted by the incumbent provider, Standard Insurance Company, will provide a
16 premium rate less than anticipated for the current year budget with no change in the
17 benefit structure and is guaranteed for a two -year period, and
18 WHEREAS, this renewal will represent the third and fourth years of a maximum
19 seven -year contract period described in the most recent Request for Proposal.
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
21 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
22 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to renew its contract with Standard
23 Insurance Company to provide long -term disability insurance coverage for non-
24 uniform City employees for a two -year period effective May 1, 2006.
25 Section 2. Funds for the cost of the coverage is included as a line item in the
26 2006 City budget.

Section 3. Severability. In the event any portion of this resolution is declared or
adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not
affect the remaining portions of this resolution, which shall remain in full force and
effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not
originally a part of this resolution.
Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances and resolutions, and parts thereof, which
are in conflict with any provision of this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of
such conflict.
