RE: Land Use Amendment
LU -99-11-02
Dear Mr. Minyard:
1 -Fri-m-44 q
As a property owner adjacent to the Embassy Suites, I wish to go on
record as supporting the request for an amendment to the Land Use Plan
for blocks number 53 and 54 of the West Highland Subdivision.
As business in the west end of Little Rock continues to grow, the need for
appropriate facilities to house and entertain guests to our city is
imperative. I believe this project will also result in the extension of
Embassy Drive, and that it's eventual expansion to Kanis Road will
benefit the traffic patterns in West Little rock.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Gerald L. Hooper

Dear Jim:
John Q. Hammon is planning for the future for his Embassy Suites Hotel in West
Little Rock. The hotel has been so successi'ul that he is contemplating the possibility
of expanding the facility in the not too distant future.
In order to accomplish this he will need to buy some additional land, and is in the
process of doing just that. The land he is considering is blocks #53 and X154 in the
West Highland Subdivision which is just south of the hotel. However, it is imperative
that there be an amendment to the land use plan from office to commercial to
accommodate the additional facility for the hotel complex.
I want you to know that I feel that the land use change to be in keeping with good land
use in general, and more specifically for that area and the hotel. If I can provide any
other information please let me know.
Sincerely,
Lunsfo . Bridges

Dear Mayor Dailey:
jfi,—M/k alt
The "I'm Big on Little Rock" program is wonderful, perfectly capturing the
positive mood and direction of the state's capital city. Great things are happening
throughout the community with park improvements, the riverfront revitalization,
convention center expansion, the Peabody announcement, and, of course, the
Presidential Library. Your leadership with these developments makes me proud to be
a Little Rock taxpayer.
Another indication of the city's strong and vibrant economy is the proposed
expansion of the Embassy Suites hotel (case: LU -99-11-02). In the dozen years I've
held this job, I've had several occasions to work with John Q. Hammons and Tony
Moody. These gentlemen understand the lodging and customer service businesses
inside out, and set the standard wherever they have a property. I know from firsthand
experience that the Little Rock Embassy Suites is filling an important niche, offering
convenient, first-rate accommodations in one of the city's fastest growing areas. I
hope you and your staff can work with the Hammons team to ensure that the
expansion project moves along on schedule.
Your hard work in behalf of central Arkansas benefits the entire state. Thanks
for your support of the tourism industry.

RE: Change of land use plan for Blocks 53 & 54, West Highland Subdivision
Dear Mr. Minyard:
We represent the owners of Lots 7RA and 9 of Office Park West Subdivision on Office Park
Drive in Little Rock. These properties are within the distance requiring notification of the
Embassy Suites' application to change the land use plan from residential to commercial.
The owner of these properties (Blocks 7RA and 9 of Office Park West Subdivision) is Wendy's of
Little Rock, Inc. Pension Trust held by C. H. Investments, which is the estate of the late Jerry
Hamra. There is no objection to the Embassy Suite Hotel's application to change the land use
plan. In fact we support their application.
Sincerely,
