I can do that. I’ve seen some different styles, although will need to specifically look. Used to look, when I worked as medic. Thanks. Perfect idea! Paul, we’ll even give you full credit when someone wants us to reimburse them for tires. We can look at something free standing. Just not sure on the cost, durability, or appearance. I’ll see if I can brainstorm any other ideas. Maybe PVC with and easy break-a-way attachment of some sort. We are still in the thought stage. I’ll see if I can brain storm at Home Depot. Thanks. Ha ha! JK!! All kidding aside, I wonder if you could do something free standing that isn’t connected to either building so if it’s hit neither building would get damaged. Maybe two tall metal posts on either side with a chain strung between them with the clearance height put on a sign in the middle of it? I just sent out e-mails to the two contractors we have quotes. So far, only two have submitted. I also added the conditions Brian Minyard recommended. Also, do either of you have an issue, when we get this rebuilt and the work is complete, if we had add a pipe across the parking lot side of the alley, anchored with fairly light screws into the mortar, so if someone tries to drive through again, they will hit the pipe, break it loose, and not hit the arch again? I’m thinking 1 or 2 inch conduit with fairly small screws. Thanks. For his part of signing off on the scope of work for all of the buildings, he will need official correspondence from me regarding the brick arch. So when you all make a final decision about keeping or removing the arch, would you let me know so I can write the appropriate approval letter to either repair or remove it? Thanks much and hope you have a great weekend! We discussed the cricket design for the 7th Street house, and he was happy to do the cricket with either tapered insulation or build one out of wood. I said that whichever would get the correct angle of descent to create a positive water flow for drainage so that the water won’t sit in the valley would work fine. Robert, I don’t know if you have a preference about those materials options, but if you do, you may want to visit with Justin about it. We also talked about the corner where the water drops off the upper roof to the porch roof that has the gutters covered and the need for a downspout there so the water doesn’t sit there. Justin thinks the gutters under that cover may very well be rusted out and need to be replaced. He also asked about the front porch roofs on the 7 th Street house, and I told him that as far as I knew, you wanted those done too. On the church office roof for the rear addition, Justin had no issue with setting the new flashing into the mortar joints around the chimney and back wall of the house for the membrane roof going there. On the school building next to the church, Justin recommended replacing the red metal roof on the rear porch with a shingled roof. He said the roofer that put the red metal roof on didn’t install the drip edge correctly and that water had been getting in behind the molding so he plans to correct that. He said they will put down a high quality felt under 30 year shingles. Were there any additional questions either of you had about the little flat roof over the stairway on the 8 th Street side of the church? 5 Walter and I also visited about the brick arch that got whacked. He indicated that the discussion was ongoing about keeping (he’d like to keep it) or removing it. I told him that we were ok with removing it, but if you want to rebuild it, that ACME brick in Malvern has been a great resource for matching historic brick. I told him our primary concern for removing it is to protect the porch roof structure on the church office from being damaged again by an inattentive driver. Hopefully I covered everything that needed to be addressed.
