All present were in agreement with the change, As president of Southwest Little Rock United for Progress, I support the Land Use Amendment for the F+aast Side of Chicot from Vega Drive to Mabelvale, Cutoff. This is a Principal Arterial street, which carries a lot of peak drive traffic, including my vehicle. The traffic has rendered the homes on this street to be an unpleasant place to have a quiet residence. The quietness of the street is further aggravated by public school bus stops on almost every corner '-- resulting in large numbers of junior and high school students banging on the corners waiting on the bus every day, I have personally watched them be destructive to various yards of the few residents left on the street. I urge the approval of this Land Use Amendment over staff objection. This request for change is from the revision of the Cloverdale Watson Neighborhood Action Plan, The revision is being sought from residents who live in the area, know the conditions, and know what they want the area to become. All present were in agreement with the change. As President of Southwest Little Rock United for Progress, I support the Land Use .Amendment for the South side of Alexander Road at the Raymond Meyer Road intersection and the proposed intersection of the South Loop. Alexander Road is a Minor Arterial street, which carries more and more traffic each year, in particular due to new houses in nearby Saline County. While there are several nice country type homes on Alexander Road, due to planned road construction, it is unlikely any new homes would be built in this portion of Alexander road, There were numerous Land Use changes recommended by the Action Plan committee at future intersections of the South Loop. This is the only parcel staff is oi3posing. It is unfair to the property owner of this parcel that their land would not be rezoned for a use higher than residential. When construction of South Loop starts the very first leg will be between. Mabelvale West (near Southwest Hospital) and Alexander Road, dumping traffic in front of this property. The second phase of the South Loop will be between Alexander Road and nearby Sardis Road TT:'Lo-d 9F&86 699 T@S a),01d,N• -A'alJ3a-t Lid 9T:OT ZOO -7 -t7 -a3=1 -2— Febxuery 24, 2002 To further make the denial of this Land Use change unfair, South Loop would isolate part of this parcel from their other contiguous land, making it unsuitable for its current use. I urge the approval of this Land Use Amendment over staff' objection. This request for change ie from the revision of the I.30 South/Chicot West Neighborhood Action Plan, The revision is being sought from residents who live in the area, know the conditions, and know what they want the area to become. The area will soon no longer suitable for residential homes. While we are looking forward to South Loop for future development in the area, it will change the character afthis area.
