Subject: proposed use change on Alexander Road
Attn: Planning Commission Hearing
Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 @ 4:00 p.m.
We oppose the proposed use change of Alexander Road at Meyer Lane from single family to community shopping. Such
a business development would likely create problems for the residential area. Alexander Road itself is narrow with open
ditches on each side and would not well accommodate additional traffic.
Please let us know how to receive information in a more timely manner. Notices were left in our neighborhood only
Monday evening so many families are not able to know about the proposal in time to express concerns or approval. As a
result we hope the Planning Commission will at least delay a decision until neighborhood residents can be informed and
involved in the process.

Re: Alexander Rd. and Meyer Lane
Gentlemen,
My husband and I live on Meyer Lane in a home we have owned for 12 years. I would
like to strongly protest amending the land use plan on the property at Alexander and
Meyer to accommodate "Community Shopping". Meyer Lane is a quiet, lovely
neighborhood where we had hoped to be able to live for the rest of our lives. There is no
need for access to shopping. In fact there are places to shop all around us. Within a
distance of one to five miles there are grocery stores, restaurants, convenience stores,
"Dollar" stores, pharmacies, and a huge Wal Mart Supercenter. Shannon Hills shopping
center is within two miles of our house, and is filled with empty, abandoned buildings
where businesses have failed. The service station/convenience store at Alexander and
Sardis Road, which is about 6/10 of a mile from the property in question, has struggled
for years to stay open, and has been closed for long periods of time more than once in the
last few years. Any business development at Alexander and Meyer will surely result in
devaluing the homes and property of forty to fifty families, and will not add anything of
value to the community.
Please do not allow this excellent neighborhood to be ruined. Please do not allow the
property at Alexander and Meyer to be changed from single family use to community
shopping. It would have a disastrous effect on the neighborhood.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Dot Hinson
