Re. Land Use Plan Amendment- Johnson Lane & Heinke Road
I was an active participant in the 1997 Chicot West/I-W South Neighborhood Action
Pian. Much of the land area covered by the Action Plan does not fall within the
boundaries of any established neighborhood association. I havetaken the pro -active
position of reviewing proposed Planning Commission actions on property within the
action plan.
I was in attendance at the August 6,1998, Phmning Commission meeting when moxa on
this was deferred until September 17,1998.
I am opposed the Land Use Plan Amendment - Geyer Springs West Planning District
Johnson Lane east of Heinke Road for the foltowing reasons:
1. The Asea is residential in nature and the land use plan calls for single family
residential_
2. There is sufficient commercial land use for the_area. Several previously residential
areas were desil gated commercial in the land use.. plan in anticipation of the South
Loop project
3. The streets. in the area will not support commercial traffic in the area. Heinke Road is
designated as a Collector street on the Master Street Plan, but currently it is far from
that standard. Upgrading of Heinke, Road is a long-range goal of the action plan, but
it has not been slated as a near future project.
I thereby request that land use planning the Chicot'W est/1-30 South Neighborhood
Action maxi be upheld and the applicant be denied the change in land use.
