SUBJECT: WARD 2 AND WARD 7 (SOUTHWEST) LAND USE PLAN
MEETING
DATE: MAY 13, 2013
The request was made at a Board of Directors meeting for staff to set a community
meeting for Ward 2 and Ward 7 to discuss the proposed land use changes and
modifications. Staff has set a public meeting for 6 P.M. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the
Southwest Community Center, 6401 Baseline Road, to discuss the package of changes to
the City Land Use Plan in the greater southwest Little Rock area. Staff will send notices
to the hundred forty plus owners and the neighborhood association in the area of the
meeting. Maps and information on the changes will be available for interested parties,
both to review at the meeting and take home.
This is part of the City's efforts to maintain the Future Land Use Plan for consistency
with the likely future development patterns. The land use plan review process was
started in 2010 with an area east of I-30 and the area in question is the fifth one to be
reviewed. Proposed changes are a result of discussions and review by city staff, to
hopefully reflect a more likely future development pattern in the area - based on activity
and changes noted in the recent past. Please note that such a change in the Future Land
Use Plan does not change the zoning or currently allowable uses.
