Proposed fence at 407 East 14th Street, Little Reck Submitted by Joe and Sheila Kuonen It has become necessary for security and privacy to construct a fence around thefront yard at 407 East 14th St. There have been repeated incidents in the neighborhood of crime, homicides, drug dealing, and panhandling. Construction of a fence will create an additional barrier between the house and the public thoroughfares, and enable security dogs to access the front perimeter of the house. However, it is unlikely that a mere three-foot high fence will be sufficient deterrent to keep unwanted trespassers out and medium or large size dogs in. Therefore, we are requesting approval of a four -foot, four - inch tall fence which will provide enough additional height to achieve these objectives. If eight -foot lumber is used for the 1x4 pickets, a single cut can be made at the midpoint, which will yield two four -foot, two-inch pickets. With two inches clearance from the ground, this will produce a four - foot, four -inch tall finished fence. }esthetically, this fence will not obscure the view of the house from the street because of the height of the porch and foundation on the front. It is in keeping with the architectural. character of the house and the neighborhood. It will preserve the historic integrity of the property and the neighborhood and add to the security and stability of both. Thank you for your consideration.
