What is involved:
The Little Rock Land Use Plan provides for twenty-one (21) land use
classifications. In order to change from one to another, an owner or
authorized representative is required to accomplish certain tasks:
1. The applicant obtains the necessary application forms and instructions
from the planning staff.
2. File the required application and supporting documents with the Land
Use Planner prior to the closing date for the next scheduled meeting.
3. Pay the filing fee.
4. Encouraged to meet with neighborhood organizations to discuss
proposal.
5. Post the sign, as specified by staff, a minimum of fifteen (15) days prior
to the hearing.
6. Applicant appears at Planning Commission meeting to represent the
application.
7. The Planning Commission hears all comments of all interested parties
then votes to:
a. Approve the application and forward to the City Board of
Directors for ordinance passage.
b. Deny the case that will require to applicant to file an appeal in
order to be heard by the Board.
8. All cases, approved or appealed, are scheduled by the Board for public
hearing at the next appropriate date.
9. The Board of Directors will hear all interested parties, then vote to:
a. Approve the application, in which case, an ordinance is issued
amending the Land Use Ordinance.
b. Deny the application, in which case, that applicant has a right to
appeal the decision to the Chancery Court.
10. After the Board of Directors action, the Planning Staff accomplishes the
required modification of public records to reflect the change.
