Here is the text of the email I sent to you and Brian. I will need project specifics in order to issue the approval letter for rebuilding the deck. The contractor’s quote with a description of the scope of work and the materials to be used is necessary for an evaluation of the project. Will you be reconstructing the vertical lattice sections as well, or planning on something different for that? I agree with Brian’s assessment that the deck needs work as it has rotted in several areas. Nickolas, the new paint job you did on the house turned out great! I almost didn’t recognize the house when I first saw the photo of it. The contrasting colors really bring out the architectural details of the house and have improved the curb appeal considerably. I hope whoever buys the house from you will keep it in that color scheme for a while. If you have any questions about what I need to finish the review, please let me know. I anticipate it will be a total rebuild with the buckled beams that I saw. I have sent the photos and other information to Paul Porter. He is the easement coordinator at Arkansas Historic Preservation Program. We will talk and generate our report to concur with each other. You will need both of our approvals to get a building permit for the deck. Please send me a quote from your contractor to make sure the scope of work is clarified. We will need this before the building permit is issued.
