Subject: Rezoning meeting today
Mr. Minyard: By;
It is my understanding the property in the Ranch is being considered for rezoning today from 0-2
to C-3. Initially, I, among many of my neighbors in Aberdeen, Bayonne and the Ranch expressed
concern about this rezoning because of the potential of having a big discount store build an
unattractive building on this land. In addition, we were concerned about the traffic this type of
development may bring. I have discussed this with Mr. Ed Willis and I am satisfied that he will
develop this land in such a way that maintains the integrity of the landscape and beauty of the
surrounding areas. Per Mr. Willis, the rezoning is necessary in order to restore rezoning that
took place several years ago and also to maintain their competitiveness with the other C-3
property located near by.
Per Mr. Willis, the Ranch has an agreement with the city to have a certain number of acres as
commercial, they intend on putting a light at the intersection of Chenonceau and Highway 10 and
there will not be a Wal Mart or other similar store at this location.
Based on the reasons given by Mr. Willis, I do not personally oppose the rezoning. I cannot
speak for everyone in these neighborhoods, but after hearing Mr. Willis' reasoning, I personally
believe he will do what is in the best interest of the Ranch and surrounding areas.
Sincerely,
Gary Cooper
