Re: Porch Restoration for the Cohn House
904 South Scott Street
Little Rock, Arkansas
Research and Design Process:
The c. 1870’s house was moved to its current location sometime between 1897 and
1913 according to Sanborn maps. No photographs have been found confirming the
design of the porch in the houses original location. The earliest photos of a porch
date to the 1890’s (see Sheets P1.0 & P1.1). Test pits provided confirmed the footprint
of the porch. Brick from the original footing were found in these locations.
The design and details of the porch are based on the attached c. 1890’s
photographs. Both the sawn style and “organic” design brackets are similar to those
found in Little Rock (see Sheet P1.4). No information was found regarding the design
of the front steps. The proposed design is in keeping with the style of the porch and
in compliance with applicable codes.
