Brian, I agree with you; the only issue before the Committee is the siding. I will at the meeting strictly as an observer.
Debra is still the attorney representing the HDC and will be until she leaves at the end of the month. I will let Caleb know
what’s going on. He’s got a lot to catch up on so I don’t anticipate he’ll attend. I’ll let him know what happens. Enjoy
your vacation! -Sherri

Subject: DRC this week
Debra and Sherri,
Page Wilson filed an application for the DRC on Friday afternoon on the structure at 1001 McMath. He submitted all of
the required documents. I will notify the committee that they will be meeting on Friday, June 22 at 2:00 pm upstairs in
our main conference room.
Within the application, on page three, there is the “Design Review Committee Comment Sheet”. Since he is just asking
about the siding on an existing building, in my opinion some of the design factors do not apply. For example: 1 – Siting,
2 – Height, 3 – Proportion, 4 – Rhythm, 5 - Scale, 6 – Massing, 7 – Entrance Area, 9 – Roof Areas, and 11 - Detailing. I
think that 8 – Wall areas and 10 – Façade are the most applicable factors. He received approval for the building at the
HDC and the only factor is the siding that he installed without HDC approval. Therefore, I think they should only discuss
the factors that relate to the siding. I will ask you two to verify my thoughts on the Design Factors that are not relevant
to the discussion.

I will be out of the office that day of the meeting. Walter has agreed to sit in on the meeting for me. I will advise him on
the statement that is to be read at the first of the meeting (all of page two in the application). Will one of you make a
statement that only certain design factors will be discussed in the meeting (assuming that you agree with my premise)?
Debra, at the first DRC meeting for 407 E Daisy Bates, the application stated the property owner, the
designer/contractor and other representative. Everybody that attended the meeting was listed on the application. On
1001 McMath, the only name listed is “William Wilson” as property owner. On the Designer/contractor space, he put
“same as above”. What will we do if he shows up with an entourage?
In the new Guidelines, I am sure he will reference page 49 Exceptions under Façade:
It states: The HDC, strictly on a case by case basis, will consider materials generally deemed appropriate if:
There is sufficient evidence to show another more appropriate material would not satisfy code requirements;
There is sufficient evidence to show the material being proposed is superior in durability and longevity to more
appropriate materials.
You also may wish to inform him that Sheri is no longer representing us on the case. I don’t want him to feel that he is
being ganged-up upon, but also that we are doing anything wrong either. I was told that this was Caleb’s first day
back, we may want to wait to hit him with this later.
I believe that it will be difficult to hold him to 30 minutes. We were pretty good at holding the last one to thirty minutes
though we started late.
