ROOSEVELT RD., INTERSTATE 301 June 22, 1958 Little Rock Planning Commission via fax Dear Planning Commission members, in regard to this item before you, located in our Downtown Neighborhoods: * Proposal for 1900 and 2000 Commerce St. The Downtown Neighborhood Association has discussed our preferences for future development in our area, and by those conclusions, DNA would would oppose the Commerce St. proposal. We want to know what is proposed, rather than dealing with a'general change in land use or zoning, and then taking up a specific project later. The Commerce St. proposal follows this approach, and this is too vague. DNA does support the concept of mixed-use properties, but in a residential area such as this Commerce St. area, we would oppose the wholesale change without more knowledge of what was planned. Our focus for mixed-use property in residential areas would be to encourage re -use of our corner grocery commercial structures, now vacant. These structures would be suited to a ground floor quiet use and second floor offices or residential use. In no case do we wish to bring noise and traffic congestion upon our residents. Yours Truly, Kathy Wells, President i(6 -M __5 June 19,1998 Board of Directors City Of Little Rock City Hall Little Rock, AR 72201 Ref: Proposed Re -zoning of property located at 1918 Commerce Dear Directors, This letter is to inform you that we the East of Broadway Neighborhood Association support the re -zoning of the property referenced above. We feel that Ms. Ellis proposal to open a Beauty Shop in our area will benefit our community in that it would bring people who are unfamiliar with the many changes (all good) in our neighborhood in, and give our area more support, in that this is no longer an area of town to be avoided. It will help to prove to more of the public that when neighbors work together good things can happen. New businesses such as the one proposed can be also instrumental in bringing neighbors together in that it is a legitimate place where people can come together while taking care of a personal need. We feel that Ms. Ellis who is a long-time resident, and is familiar with the past problems we have experienced, will be more committed to making sure her place of business is the type, that will help to keep our neighborhood striving in the direction we are headed, which is to ensure that our residents, whether old or young feel safe and secure in their homes. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to express our opinion in this matter. Sincerely, Patricia A. Clark President
