Hi Brian,
I checked out 1414 Park Lane and it brought up a lot of questions that I thought I'd run past you. I don't know
whether this is your bailiwick or not, but if not, you could just refer me to whoever might know the answers.
--If the city tears down the structure, is the property owner billed for the cost? Or does the city put a lien on the
property to recover the cost?
--Does the city take possession of the property after the demolition?
--Is any cost estimate generated for rehab of a structure?
I'm also wondering whether the city would be willing to invest the cost of demolition in rehabbing the property
instead? That is to say, if it would cost $15,000 to demolish the structure, would they be willing to escrow that
amount if someone were willing to invest a like amount to remove debris, establish a secure foundation, secure
flooring and framing, and secure window opening and door opening?
Also wondering about the possibility of establishing a go-fund-me site if people wanted to contribute to saving
this property.
I appreciate the extreme damage suffered by the property on Park Lane. I don't know whether it's savable, but I
figure the answer would be that it could be done with a lot of money.
