Mr. Bloom:
I am in receipt of your letter informing me that you are reviewing the Land Use I'lan for Pint Mountain Road off
Cantrell/flighway 10. 1 own the property at #5 and am OPPOSED to the rezoning to allow a restaurant at the
corner of Cantrell and Pine Mountain.
Relocation/Interruption of lifestyle on existing tenants:
The neighborhood is mostly retired people and families. To find another location for them and to re --none would destroy
an established neighborhood. I think there is plenty of restaurant property vacant in Little Rock that needs to be rented
before we re -zone. There are numerous `strip centers' going up on Cantrell that are vacant and plenty of room for the
restaurant in an arca that has already been zoned for that type establishment. Why do we want to disrupt established
neighborhoods that would be adversely affected by re -zoning?
Tremendous traffic problem for road:
If the restaurant goes in there will be a tremendous traffic problem. Pine Mountain Road is almost a one- lane road and
to park cars for the restaurant (or a restaurant of any type) and have traffic on shat road would be a nightmare. That is
not to mention the fact that trying to get onto Cantrell Road and Pinnacle Valley Road is a problem now and would
become even more cumbersome. The traffic alone is a reason not to consider lite re -Zone proposal.
Opposed before/when will it stop:
When my 91 -year-old father was alive, he opposed the strip center that went in at Cantrell and Pinnacle Valley road.
He believed that if we gave an inch the developers would take a mile and it looks like he was right. There is an
insidious encroachment on the neighborhood that started with the Kroger complex, cast of the subdivision. It has
grown and now is getting worse. When will it stop? You have the power to help save a neighborhood from further
erosion.
Boyhood homeltrying to keep in family:
My boyhood home is #5 Pine Mountain Road. i grew up in that house; moving in 1957 and when my father passed
away in 2004, I bought it from my two brothers to keep the: legacy of my family in tack. My daughter and her family
are thinking of occupying the family homestead, but with a restaurant there of any scope, it would be very unattractive
for a family of two adults and two small children (under the age .of 4).
I am OPPOSED, as are most of the residents of the neighborhood. It is my feeling that there are other options
available for the restaurant that would meet with much less resistance and opposition and be much more appropriate
for our city.
Thanks for your consideration.
Respec fully, r
To G. nderson
