We can remove the historic grounds plaque and store it at the museum until an appropriate place can be identified and approved to re-installation. I have attached a crude map that shows two proposed locations for the Mehlburger Markers and the Little Rock Study Club monuments. The Mehlburger Marker monument would be moved about 30 yards due south of its current location and placed on a section of brick adjacent to the 206th Coast Artiller monument. The Little Rock Study Club would be moved to a comparable section of brick at the south edge of the parade grounds perimeter. Both are outside of the façade easement. I have also attached a file with a map to the markers behind the Arsenal Building for your reference. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions. We can discuss where the permanent locations will be at a later date. Your approval will allow us to proceed with this phase. Thanks. Can you do a google map or some sort of map showing where they are and where they are going? Does the Aesthetic club care or want to respond on where the plaque goes? If it is in the conservation area, we will need to get Paul Porter involved. I would think he would be okay as long as they are not attached to the Arsenal building itself. I would suggest doing the map first. Brian From: Mcateer, Stephan Sent: Friday, April 05, 2019 1:22 PM To: Minyard, Brian Subject: Historical Markers in MacArthur Park Brian, I attended a meeting this morning with representatives from Studio Gang at which they shared their designs for the Arts Center renovations. As part of that meeting, we discussed the need to relocated two historical markers and one plaque that will be impacted by their construction. The plaque is attached to the east wall of the small building behind the museum at the southwest corner. That building is slated to be demolished when the construction begins. The two markers are directly beneath that marker on the ground. None of the items in question are visible from the street. Is this a project that you can approve at the staff level? I have attached pics of the plaque and marker for your review. 3 Stephan Stephan McAteer, Director MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History 503 E. 9th St. Little Rock, AR 72202 501-376-4602 501-376-4597 FAX www.arkmilitaryheritage.com
