Home My WebLink About19347I Pa ORDINANCE NO. 19,347 3 AN ORDINANCE TO CONDEMN CERTAIN STRUCTURES IN 4 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK AS STRUCTURAL, FIRE AND HEALTH 5 HAZARDS; PROVIDING FOR SUMMARY ABATEMENT 6 PROCEDURES; DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO TAKE SUCH 7 ACTION AS IS NECESSARY TO RAZE AND REMOVE SAID s STRUCTURES; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER 9 PURPOSES. 10 11 WHEREAS, certain structures in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, have become 12 run -down, dilapidated, unsightly, dangerous, obnoxious and detrimental to the public 13 welfare of the citizens of Little Rock; and 14 WHEREAS, the condition of these structures constitutes a serious structural, fire 15 and health hazard; and 16 WHEREAS, such structures are a public nuisance and are dangerous to the 17 health and safety of the occupants or other persons and, further, are in such condition as 18 to be dangerous to the lives, limbs and property of people in its vicinity or those 19 lawfully passing thereby; and 20 WHEREAS; such structures are declared a nuisance and immediate action is 21 necessary to remedy these situations and said buildings should be rehabilitated by the 22 owners or razed either by the owners or the City of Little Rock. 23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS 24 OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. 25 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby declares that the following structures 26 constitute public nuisances. While not required by law to do so, the Department of Housing & Neighborhood Programs will immediately attempt to notify the owners of the property listed below of the passage of this ordinance by certified mail or personal service. The conditions of the structures on the above - described property 6 have been found to present structural, fire and health hazards and are dangerous to the 7 health and safety of the occupants or other persons, and further, the structures are in 8 such condition as to be dangerous to the lives, limbs and property of people in its 9 vicinity or those lawfully passing thereby. 10 Section 3. The City Attorney is hereby authorized to institute such 11 proceedings against such persons as may be necessary in order to enforce the provisions 12 of this ordinance so as to remedy the unsightly and dangerous conditions brought 13 about as a result of the failure of the owners thereof to maintain this property. 14 Section 4. The Department of Housing and Neighborhood Programs of the 15 City of Little Rock is also authorized to raze and remove said buildings and file and 16 enforce a lien against said property for the cost of razing and removing said structures 17 pursuant to Section 20 -32 of the Little Rock Code of Ordinances. 18 Section 5.
