My name is Brian Minyard and I am the staff for the Historic District Commission. Dana and I discussed your fencing
request. As staff, I can approve maintenance issues when replacing rotten boards on fences, but I cannot approve
changes in height or materials.
Below is a link to the Historic District Commission’s webpage. Scroll down ¾ of the page for the HDC. Links there will
get you to the Guidelines, the calendar, and the applications. If you had a quote in hand from the fencing company
including a plan of the fence and property and detailed specs of the desired fence (photos sometimes work), you may
want to file tomorrow. The deadline is Friday August 9, 2019 for the September 9th meeting.

Please read the application instructions. There are also certified mail that must go out based on an abstract companies
list of adjacent property owners.
Please call me and I can visit your property and discuss the guidelines. Fences are covered in Section VII.

I had a conversation with Ms. Stitz yesterday about the process of obtaining a fence permit to replace an existing fence.
What I was hoping to do was to work with her on the fence permit without her having to have a property survey done.
During our conversation, she gave me the address of the property which I determined is located in the Historic District. I

advised her I would have to share this information with you and it could take Historic district Commission review for the
fence. I will follow your lead on this.

1. Where is your property located (address) 521 east 6th St. Little Rock, AR 72201
2. What kind of fence currently exists wooden privacy on the west side of my house and 3 ft. black metal
garden fencing on the east side of front yard.
3. What kind of fence you are trying to put up: Taller wooden privacy fencing on the west side (5ft) and
taller (5ft) black chain link to replace garden fencing on the east side of front yard. Also, replacing
existing gate with black metal gate.
4. Is it going back in the same exact place: Yes
