RE: COA permit
August 12, 2019
Commissioners:
Pursuant to instructions for filing for a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) I am submitting this
cover letter regarding my request for a permit to improve the fencing at my home located at
521 East 61" Street, Little Rock, AR 72202.
My home, as shown in the pictures and sketch provided to you, is unusual in the location of my
house compared to others around my neighborhood. My house is set back from the street to
the point that I do not have a viable back yard. The only grassy area I have is the front portion
of my yard.
I am requesting of the commission, a permit to replace the inadequate fencing that is currently
in place. The purpose of replacing the fencing is twofold. One is the safety for my two dogs
that are unable to access the yard unless I am home to closely monitor them as there has been
a recent incident where my neighbors contacted me at work to report someone had opened
the front gate at my home and my dogs were in the street. Second, the security of my property
and myself. The more secure fencing I am requesting, I believe is both appropriate and very
much needed for the protection and safety of both my home and those of us to live here.
What I am requesting is to improve privacy fencing on the west side of my yard from 3ft to 5ft
height and replace the fencing on the east side of my front yard with 5ft black chain link both
fencing and continuing the black chain link across my property in front of my parking pad facing
north. This fencing will not continue to the end of the property but add an extra level of
security to the property.
Thank you our consideration. I look forward to meeting you and discussing the plan.
