Brian,
The Historic District Commission will consider the “renovation “ of this property tonight at 5:00pm. As a
property owner in the district and on this particular block, I am very concerned that the Commission will allow
the owner to reinstall some version of the red mansard shingle facade , which is totally out of keeping with
every other building in the area.
Although the building is deemed “non-contributing” architecturally , I believe the owner should be required to
REMOVE the mansard facade entirely and rebuild the simple storefront that was there years ago. It would
actually save the owner some money.
There isn’t much that can be done about the use but this is the only chance to get the owner to better conform to
the look of the neighborhood!
