This property is within the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance Historic District and is subject to all rules and regulations of that district. Please accept this letter as formal notice that construction activity 314 E 6th Street was also carried out in violation of state law requiring that a Certificate of Appropriateness ("COK) be obtained prior to making alterations to a structure located in a local ordinance historic district. Our records indicate an awning was removed and replaced without a building permit encompassing all of the work performed. Construction activity was performed in violation of this COA requirement. You received a stop work order to cease all construction activity at 314 E 6th Street until your building permit brought up to date. You have continued to work on the property after being informed of the stop work order. To bring your property into compliance with state law, you must either restore the original materials to the structure or obtain a COA from the Little Rock Historic District Commission by filing an application and fulfilling all requirements thereof. One is attached for your convenience. Failure to obtain a COA and a building permit and franchise permit (if applicable) for the new awning will result in referral of this matter to the Zoning Enforcement Division of the City of Little Rock Planning and Development Department for enforcement proceedings in the City of Little Rock Municipal Court. Please call me on my direct line at 371-4789 to get this matter resolved. If I can assist you on getting this property on the next agenda, please let me know. Our filing deadlines are posted on the web and are generally the first Friday of each month.
