HomeMy WebLinkAboutCBC_11 07 2019The City Beautiful Commission held its regular meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 07, 2019, at Curran Hall, 615 E. Capitol Avenue. Acting Chairman Homeyer called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT: Steve Homeyer Troy Laha Louise Miller Robert Walker BJ Sanders-Woods Bob Winchester MEMBERS ABSENT: Phillis Anderson Shelby Linck Bobby Cushman Two Open Positions ALSO, PRESENT: Beth Carpenter, City Attorney’s Office D.Tracy Spillman, Plans Development Administrator, Department of Planning and Development, City of Little Rock. APPROVAL OF THE OCTOBER MEETING MINUTES: Chairman Homeyer entertained a motion to approve the October 2019 Minutes. Motion: Commissioner Laha made a motion that the October 03, 2019 Minutes be approved. Second: Commissioner Walker seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. TREASURER’S REPORT: Expense Report: In the absence of Commissioner Cushman there was no new report. COMMITTEE REPORTS, UPDATES: Public Relations In the absence of Commissioner Anderson there was no new report. Staff member Spillman stated that he had posted the Landscape Award photos and photos of an October Eye of the Beholder recipient to the CBC Facebook page. After a general discussion of this committee Commissioner Miller volunteered to assume administration duties for the CBC Facebook page. KLRB: Commissioners Walker and Sanders-Woods stated that they had both attended the last KLRB meeting. It was then stated that the topics of the Rainbow Bridge Pet Memorial, City Wide Pickup, and City Parks were discussed. Commissioner Walker also noted that KLRB had a booth at the recent Main Street Cornbread Festival. Adopt-A-Street: The commissioners discussed the next Bowman Rd pickup and decided on Saturday November 23 at 8:00am. Commissioner Miller agreed to speak with former commissioner Mr. Michael Harvey to acquire the pickup supplies. Eye of the Beholder: Staff Member Spillman stated that the CBC’s first seasonal Eye of the Beholder Award was presented to a resident located at the corner of Markham St and Sun Valley Rd for a residential Halloween display. Landscape Awards: Chairman Homeyer stated that the awards had been presented and that he is still working on having the posters produced and framed. Commissioner Homeyer presented Staff with a receipt for $277.95 from Mizell Signs for the cost of the 2020 Landscape Award Winner Signs, T.R.E.E Fund: Chairman Homeyer reported that most of the trees at the Arvest Bank T.R.E.E Fund have died. Staff Member Spillman stated that Urban Forester Mr. Robbie Hudson will be contacted for review and possible removal of these died plants. NEW BUSINESS: Election of 2020 CBC Officers The commissioners generally discussed the officer positions and agreed that Commissioner Sanders-Woods would serve as Chairman, Commissioner Homeyer would continue to serve as Vice Chairman, and that Commissioner Cushman would continue to serve as Treasurer. There was no opposition to these proposals and no other nominees for these offices. Motion: Commissioner Winchester made a motion to accept the nominations as purposed. Second: Commissioner Walker seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. ANNOUNCEMENTS: The next Bowman Road pickup will be Saturday, November 23, and the commissioners will meet at 8:00 a.m. in the Senior Tequila’s parking lot, ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Homeyer entertained a motion to adjourn. Motion: Chairman Laha made a motion to adjourn. Second: Commissioner Walker seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 11:58.
