Dear Brian:
We are property owners and next door neighbors to 1723 N University. We were very
concerned when this house was placed on the market, because it has alwasy been owner
occupied and we were friends of the previous owners.
We have a considerable investment in our home. It is located on two lots , has a
swimming pool, and in the past few months we have completely remodeled and reroofed.
We have no intention of selling or moving from this location.
Several of the surrounding homes are rental property and are very poorly maintained,
some having absentee landlords. Not too long ago, we were awakened by a fire in a house
across the alley, people were pouring out and we suspected drug activity. The resulting
damage and burned trash were never removed from the property.
We would welcome a small business as a neighbor and are very pleased by the
improvements that have already taken place. This corner is not suited for residential even
though our house is. Please do not hamper our property values any further by denying
what is obvoiously an appropriate use.
Sincerely,
John Jones
