Can you tell me what the land will be used for and what changes this will mean for my neighborhood? Thank you, Christy Langhammer Whyard, Brian:; To: Christy Langhammer Subject: RE: 4300 Markham Street There has been a filing for a Planned Office Development, POD, at the northwest corner of Rose and Markham for a 'Ronald McDonald' type house for patients and their families from UAMS to stay overnight, during and after visits to the doctor. Briefly, that is the proposed use. The Land Use plan, a guide for development in the city, shows the half block facing Markham as Office and the half block facing A to be Low Density Residential. LDR is residential, more dense than Single Family but less dense than Multi -family. Since the proposed use is an office type use, that did not fit in the LDR category, hence the land Use Plan amendment. Both items, the Land Use Plan Amendment and the POD, will be heard back to back at the 5-11-00 planning commission meeting. LDR can be used as a buffer between the more intense uses of office and the hospital uses across the street and the residential uses to the north. That 'buffer' would no longer exist but the proposed use may or may not fit the bill as an appropriate buffer. That is the question that the Planning Commission will decide.
