THE APPLICATION WAS DENIED BY VOTE OF (4 ayes - 5 noes - 2 unfilled positions). Staff Recommendation: This application of 2 lots lies on John Barrow Rd. in an area which contains 40 "F" zoned commercial lots. These lots are nearly all vacant (27) with only one commercial use, a barber shop. The area of W. 36th at Barrow Rd. intersection was designated a neighborhood commercial center in 1963 shortly after annexation. The Commission and City Board determined at that time that the 40 _+ lots were sufficient to serve the square mile of land built up as Barrow Addition. Since that time, most of the com- mercial buildings in the area have been demolished or destroyed by fire. To our knowledge, no new construction is proposed. The staff feels there is more than an adequate amount of com- mercial land in the area.
