PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: THE PLANNING COMMISSION
VOTED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION. (6 ayes -
4 noes - 1 absent)
Staff Recommendation: Subject property was before the Com-
mission on Aug. 3, 1972, at which time the applicaa t
requested "E" Apt. zoning. The staff recommended denial
of the request and instead proposed "MF 18" Multi -family
zoning. The Commission voted to deny the application and
the staff recommendation. At this time, the applicant has
requested "MF 6" Multi -family zoning. The staff notes that
subject property is bounded on the east by low flooding land,
to the northeast by Boyle Park, and to the west by mostly
vacant land. We feel that this rezoning would not adversely
affect the neighborhood as the property in question is platted
into 24 single family lots. The total acreage is 3.9 ac. and
at an "MF 6" density, this would allow 23 units. The staff
recommends approval of this request as we see no increase in
overall density for the area, and the grade change in excess
of 70' make a single family format impossible.
There were 9 persons present in opposition. There was one"
letter of objection. Frank Graves spoke in opposition as did
others. General discussion of development plan submitted at
meeting and possible Board of Adjustment variance rather than
rezoning. (not desired by applicant)
