The Staff's recommendation was read as follows: "The Staff recommends denial
of the application. It is felt that further rezoning of "E-1" in this area
is unwarranted. The entire length of Barrow Road from Markham to Asher has
been studied and land -use plans adopted in an effort to stabilize development
patterns, protect existing improvements and prevent the strip zoning of Barrow
Road. Although the land -use plan has been broken on several occasions, the
Staff strongly supports zoning change only on the basis of a change in the
basic plan. (Letter dated June 30 requested change in petition to "D" Apartment.)
Mr. Venhaus stated that the Staff would not be opposed to the "C" -Two-family
District zoning.
The applicant, Mr. Ramsey, was present and was agreeable to "C" -Two-family
zoning.
Motion was made and seconded for "$-1" Quiet Business but failed for lack of
sufficient affirmative votes.
Motion was made to zone "D" Apartment and seconded but failed for lack of
sufficient affirmative votes.
Motion was made to zone "C" -Two-family, which was seconded and passed.
