3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY
4 FOR AN ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & TOURISM
5 OUTDOOR RECREATION GRANT TO RENOVATE THE CIVITAN
6 AMPHITHEATER AT THE LITTLE ROCK ZOO; AND FOR OTHER
7 PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, the City held four (4) public hearings in April and May of 2017 to gather input for
10 possible grant projects at the Little Rock Zoo and determined that the renovation of the Civitan
11 Amphitheater to include a permanent shade structure, improved lighting and ADA-compliant seating, as
12 well as an on-stage penguin pool,were the most supported projects; and,
13 WHEREAS, the City has the opportunity to apply for a grant in the amount of Two Hundred Fifty
14 Thousand Dollars($250,000.00)from the Outdoor Recreation Grant Program of the Arkansas Department
15 of Parks&Tourism to assist in the funding of these improvements;
16 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
17 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
18 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to apply for an Outdoor Recreation Grant from the
19 Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism in an amount of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars
20 ($250,000.00), to provide renovation of the Civitan Amphitheater at the Little Rock Zoo which would
21 include permanent shading, lighting,ADA-compliant seating and an on-stage pool for the penguins.
22 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
23 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
24 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
25 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the
26 resolution.
27 Section 3. Repealer. All resolutions, bylaws, and other matters inconsistent with this resolution are
28 hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
