3 A RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS SUPPORT FOR THE PROPOSAL TO
4 EXTEND THE EXISTING PROPERTY TAX MILLAGE FOR THE
5 PULASKI COUNTY SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT IN ORDER TO
6 SUPPORT THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEEDED FACILITIES; TO
7 ENCOURAGE CITIZENS TO VOTE FOR THE EXTENSION AT THE
8 ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JUNE 13, 2017; AND FOR OTHER
9 PURPOSES.

11 WHERAS,the Pulaski County Special School District has the responsibility to educate students living
12 in Wards 5 and 6 of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas; and,
13 WHEREAS,the long-term economic health of the City is linked to an excellent Public School System;
14 and,
15 WHEREAS, the demand of a growing student population makes it necessary to deal with an aging
16 high school, and to improve facilities to meet the needs of students throughout the District; and,
17 WHEREAS, the District wishes to extend a current millage of 14.8 mills for a period of 14.8 years in
18 order to realize potential revenues of$60-65 Million for these facilities; and,
19 WHEREAS,the funding generated by the extension of the Property Tax Millage does not increase the
20 amount of the current Property Tax Millage for the District;
21 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1. The Little Rock Board of Directors hereby expresses support for the millage extension to
24 benefit the Pulaski County Special School District and encourages eligible citizens to vote for it at the
25 special election to be held on June 13,2017.
26 Section 2. Severability. In the event any portion of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid
27 or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of this
28 resolution, which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or
29 unconstitutional, was not originally a part of the resolution.
30 Section 3.Repealer. All laws,ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with
31 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
