3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 8 OF THE REVISED CODE OF
4 ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, TO
5 MODIFY O IFY THE BOUNDARIES OF THE FIRE DISTRICT; AND FOR
6 OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, Planning and Development Building Codes Division Staff and Little Rock Fire
9 Department Staff met to review Little Rock Revised Code provisions related to the Little Rock Fire District;
10 and,
11 WHEREAS, in response to a citizen request, staff reviewed a section of the Fire District east of
12 Interstate 30 and determined that a change in density had reduced the threat of rapid spread of fire in that
13 area; and,
14 WHEREAS, staff recommends an amendment to the Fire District boundaries, in order to remove the
15 section of the Fire District east of Interstate 30; and,
16 WHEREAS, such amendments are appropriate and necessary for the health, safety and welfare of
17 citizens.
18 NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
19 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS.
20 Section 1.These sections of Little Rock,Arkansas Revised Code(1988)Sec. 8-32-(1)is hereby deleted
21 in its entirety and following language substituted therefore:
22 Sec. 8-32 Fire District
23 There is hereby created within the City one (1) Fire District with segments bounded or identified
24 as follows:
" 25 (1) Begin north along said centerline of Interstate Highway No. 30 to a point halfway
26 between Second and Third Streets,thence west to the west right-of-way line of Rock Street,
27 thence south along Rock Street to the north right-of-way line of Capitol Avenue, thence
28 west along Capitol Avenue to the west right-of-way line of Cumberland Street, thence
29 south along Cumberland Street to the north right-of-way line of Eighth Street,thence west
30 along Eighth Street to the west right-of-way line of Scott Street,thence south along Scott
31 Street to the centerline of Interstate 630, thence northwesterly along said line to the east

1 line of Chester Street, thence north along Chester Street to the Arkansas River, thence
2 easterly along the Arkansas River to the centerline of Interstate. 30 and thence south to the
3 point of beginning.
4 (2) That area of land lying within 140 feet north of the north right-of-way line and 140
5 feet south of the south right-of-way line,parallel with and adjacent to the right-of-way line
6 of Kavanaugh Boulevard from Walnut Street to Monroe Street.
7 (3) Beginning at the northeast corner of Cantrell Road and University Avenue,thence run
8 east to the west right-of-way line of Fillmore Street,thence north to the north right-of-way
9 of R Street, thence east to the west right-of-way line of Taylor Street,thence run north to
10 the south right-of-way line of Kavanaugh Boulevard,thence run west to the east right-of-
11 way line of University Avenue,thence run south to the point of beginning.
12 (4) Beginning at the intersection of the north right-of-way line of Cantrell Road and the
13 east right-of-way line of Kavanaugh Boulevard thence north and west along the east and
14 north right-of-way line of Kavanaugh Boulevard to the east right-of-way line of Harrison
15 Street, thence north 140 feet, thence east to a point 140 feet east of the east right-of-way
16 line of Van Buren Street, thence south to the north right-of-way line of Cantrell Road,
17 thence west 140 feet along the north right-of-way line of Cantrell Road to the point of
18 beginning.
19 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
20 word of this ordinance is declared or adjudge to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or '
21 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the ordinance which shall remain in full force and
22 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the ordinance.
23 Section 3. Repealer. All ordinances, regulations, bylaws and other matters inconsistent with this
24 ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
