HomeMy WebLinkAbout14481 1 RESOLUTION NO. 14,481 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXTEND 4 A CONTRACT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT LITTLE • 5 ROCK ARKANSAS SMALL BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY 6 DEVELOPMENT CENTER TO PROVIDE UP TO TWO (2) 7 ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAINING COURSES PER YEAR FOR THE CITY 8 OF LITTLE ROCK'S SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICE;AND 9 FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 10 11 WHEREAS,A Request for Qualifications(Bid No. 16101)was issued to provide Entrepreneurial and 12 Development Training to City of Little Rock residents interested in opening a small business in the City of 13 Little Rock, Arkansas; and 14 WHEREAS, of the five (5) respondents, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Arkansas Small 15 Business and Technology Development Center was selected for its existing certifications and consultants 16 to meet the need of the City to offer Entrepreneurial Training to Little Rock residents, and the University 17 of Arkansas at Little Rock Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center offered one(1) 18 course in 2016 at a cost of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00); 19 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 20 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 21 Section 1: The City Manager is hereby authorized to extend a contract with the University of Arkansas 22 at Little Rock Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center to provide up to two (2) 23 Entrepreneurial and Development Training Courses in 2017 for Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars 24 ($25,000.00)per course to Little Rock residents interested in opening a small business in the City of Little 25 Rock. 26 Section 2. The term of this contract extension shall be from January 1, 2017,through December 31, 27 2017. If the City and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Arkansas Small Business and Technology 28 Development Center agree,the City Manager may extend the contract an additional year for up to two (2) 29 additional Entrepreneurial Training and Development Courses for Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars 30 ($25,000.00)per course in 2018. 31 Section 3. The terms and conditions of this Entrepreneurial and Development Services Contract shall 32 be consistent with the RFQ specifications, and the agreements shall be in a form acceptable to the City 33 Attorney in order to ensure that the City's interest are met. [Page 1 of 2] 1 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item sentence, clause, phrase or 2 word of this resolution is declared or adjusted to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 3 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portion of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 4 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 5 resolution. 6 Section 5. Repealer.
