HomeMy WebLinkAbout9844ORDINANCE N0. 9644 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 7 AND 8 OF ORDINANCE NO. 7826 TO PROVIDE FOR THE SELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE CENSOR BOARD TO EXAMINE EXHIBITIONS AND TO PRO- VIDE FOR THE REGULATION OF NEWSPAPER ADVERTISEMENTS OF MOTION PICTURES WHICH SHALL CARRY A NOTATION INDICATING THE AUDIENCE FOR WHICH IT IS APPROPRIATE IN ACCORDANCE WITH STANDARDS OF MOTION PICTURE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That Section 7 of Ordinance No. 7826 shall be amended to read as follows: "SECTION 7. Whenever three (3) members of the Board shall have examined or viewed an exhibition, or perform- ance of any kind, and shall have unanimously found that any part of it is in violation of this Ordinance, they shall report the same to the management of the place where said exhibition or performance is held and order the unlaw- ful part or parts excluded from future shows. If the management does not agree with the censors or fails to ex- clude such part or parts after so agreeing, the censors shall report the same to the Chief of Police who shall have the authority and will close the place of show or exhibition until a lawful program is offered. No member of the Censor Board shall act under the provisions of this Section more than one time in any one calendar year until all of the members of the said Board have so acted during the said year." SECTION 2. That Section 8 of Ordinance No. 7826 shall be amended to read as follows: "SECTION 8. All newspaper advertisements, advance or otherwise, of every type of entertainment shall carry a notation whether appropriate for children, families, or adults only, in accordance with standards published in Motion Picture Association of America, or other publica- tions selected by the Board. Any person, firm or corpora- tion publishing or displaying any such advertisement without such notation shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon -2- being found guilty of such violation shall be fined not less than Twenty -Five ($25.00) Dollars, nor more than Fifty ($50.00) Dollars." SECTION 3. That in order to protect the public welfare, sense of decency and moral of the City of Little Rock, this ordinance shall and effect from and after its passage and app: ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict hereby repealed.
