3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY
4 FOR A TRAILS FOR LIFE GRANT FROM THE ARKANSAS
5 DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND TOURISM FOR A BIKE TRAIL FOR
6 THE OTTENHEIMER COMMUNITY CENTER; AND FOR OTHER
7 PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, in 2010, after a fire occurred in the Ottenheimer Community Center, a bike trail was
10 planned by Little Rock Parks through input of area neighborhoods; and,
11 WHEREAS, additionally, support for a trail has been generated by clients of the Therapeutic
12 Recreation Center and their caregivers; and,
13 WHEREAS, the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism requires that local governments pass a
14 resolution supporting grant applications for the Trails for Life Grant; and,
15 WHEREAS, this project will create an ADA accessible trail from the Ottenheimer Community
16 Center to the near-by amenities such as the basketball court,tennis court, playground and a lake; and,
17 WHEREAS, Grant funds in the amount of Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00) will be
18 requested and the grant will require City matching funds in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars
19 ($10,000.00)to complete the project; and,
20 WHEREAS;the City funds will be paid from the 2016 Grant Match Special Project;
21 NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for a grant from Arkansas Department of
24 Parks and Tourism in the amount of Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00), which will require City
25 matching funds in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars($10,000.00)to complete the project.
26 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
27 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
28 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
29 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
30 resolution.
31 Section 3. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions or parts of the same that are inconsistent with
32 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
