HomeMy WebLinkAbout14380 1 RESOLUTION NO. 14,380 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION 5 OF CHIEFS OF POLICE IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED 6 NINETEEN THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($119,300.00), 7 FOR REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION WITH RESPECT TO THE 8 CITY'S RECRUITMENT, EXAMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS 9 FOR ENTRY-LEVEL POLICE OFFICERS; AND FOR OTHER 10 PURPOSES. 11 12 WHEREAS,the City solicited qualifications(Bid No. 16118)for professional consultant services for 13 review of the City's entry-level Police Officer recruitment, examination and selection process;and, 14 WHEREAS, a selection committee appointed by the City Manager reviewed the qualifications 15 submitted by five(5)consultants and selected the International Association of Chiefs of Police as the most 16 qualified to provide the needed services; and, 17 WHEREAS, a contract price of One Hundred Nineteen Thousand,. Three Hundred Dollars 18 ($119,300.00) was negotiated with the International Association of Chiefs of Police for an evaluation of 19 the City's current hiring practices for entry-level Police Officers and for the preparation of a final report; 20 and, 21 WHEREAS,the City Board of Directors understands that Police Officer recruitment,examination and 22 selection is critical to public safety and specialized law enforcement services and;therefore,the City Board 23 of Directors supports a thorough evaluation of that hiring process; 24 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 25 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 26 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract with the 27 International Association of Chiefs of Police in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Nineteen Thousand, 28 Three Hundred Dollars ($119,300.00) for review and recommendation with respect to the City's 29 recruitment, examination and selection process for entry-level Police Officers. 30 Section 2. Funds for this service are available in the City's General Fund. 31 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 32 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 33 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and [Page 1 of 2] 1 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 2 resolution. 3 Section 4. Repealer.
