3 A RESOLUTION TO ENDORSE THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN OPEN
4 DATA POLICY FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS; AND
5 FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

7 WHEREAS,the City of Little Rock,Arkansas,maintains a significant amount of data and information
8 that is of interest to the citizens of Little Rock,and is not exempt from disclosure by the Arkansas Freedom
9 of Information Act(FOIA); and,
10 WHEREAS,the Board of Directors and City Manager wish to make such data and information readily
11 available to the citizens without the need to make a formal request; and,
12 WHEREAS,in order to assist in the development of an Open Data Policy,the City has engaged What
13 Works Cities in conjunction with the Sunlight Foundation to work with City Staff; and
14 WHEREAS, upon completion of the Open Data Policy, it will be brought before the Board for
15 discussion and approval.
16 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
17 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
18 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby endorses the development of an Open Data Policy for the
19 City of Little Rock. The City Manager is hereby authorized to coordinate the development of the policy
20 with What Works Cities and the Sunlight Foundation and,upon completion,to bring the policy to the Board
21 for discussion and approval.
22 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
23 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
24 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
25 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
26 resolution.
27 Section 3. Repealer. All laws,ordinances,resolutions,or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with
28 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
